Philosophy and Approach:

Hello and welcome to my practice! I chose the word EMBRACE because it encompasses what I aim to offer clients; a safe, person-centered and accepting experience. My focus is on being approachable, empathetic, non-judgmental, supportive and authentic. Collaboration is imperative and through our work together, I help guide clients and their families to learn techniques and strategies in order to live better quality lives.

Background & Training:

I earned my Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from Portland State University in 2010. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma work, The Incredible Years Parent, Teacher & Child Training Series, Smart but Scattered Executive Skills Training & Organizational Skills Training for ADHD- all evidenced based supported interventions.

Specifically, I have experience working with individuals diagnosed with Mood Disorders, Attachment Disorders, Personality Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Attention Deficit & Disruptive Behavior Disorders, Trauma / Abuse issues (e.g. PTSD), Schizophrenia & Other Psychotic Disorders and those diagnosed along the Autism Spectrum. I have also provided a variety of trainings for families, support staff and care providers to assist in client support and best practices.

For the past 15 + years, I have worked in a variety of settings providing clinical and therapeutic services for individuals and their families with unique neurological, emotional and behavioral needs.  I have worked in clinics, offices and in client homes both in the non-profit and private sectors. I have provided Individual Therapy, Play Therapy, Family Therapy and Group Therapy (Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Grief & Loss etc.) and Psychological Education Groups. My services have also included Biopsychosocial Mental Health Assessments, Diagnosis, Treatment Plans and Clinical Behavioral Consultation Services which include but are not limited to Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Support Strategies.

Theoretical Orientation:

The foundation of my theoretical orientation is in Cognitive Behavior Theory, though I pull from and work with Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory and Family of Origin among others. I also have experience in Grief and Trauma work with many of my clients and their family members.

Personal:

I live on a small working farm with my husband and three kiddos. We’ve got a lot of critters and enjoy spending time outdoors and with our family and friends. Whenever we get the chance, we enjoy traveling and exploring new places.
